Projects engineers and designers shouldspecify only strong, heavy duty waterproof enclosures with quality durablegaskets.
Waterproof enclosures fulfill a wide range of purposes. They can guard sensitive electronic equipment, or they might serveas electrical outlet boxes or electrical junction boxes inharsh environments. Many are designed to work as either indoor or outdoorelectrical boxes, with features that allow them to excel in either role. There are other forms of waterproofing options for example NEMA4X enclosures that are manufactured primarily from stainless steel. The NEMA 4X enclosure are rated from waterspray resistance but not water submersion. Sometimes customers prefer NEMA 6P (IP67,IP68) enclosure and junction boxes because the enclosure materials and design construction provide better sealing capability then the NEMA 4X rating. TypicallyNEMA 4 / 4X enclosures have softer seals (closed cell foam) and the NEMA 6P (IP67,IP68) gasket seal are solid rubber. Therefore the hard rubbers are more durable for all applications.Therefore, customers prefer the submersible enclosure designs since theenclosures provide more water resistance and much more protection for criticalelectrical equipment and network systems.
